Welcome

Getting to Know Painter, Jonathan Howard

Though still early in his career, Howard is already receiving acclaim for his evocative, emotionally stirring landscapes. His loose, expressive style shows the clear influence of masters like Monet and Bonnard while feeling fresh and contemporary.

Howard showed he always had an eye for beauty, finding inspiration in everyday sights around him like sunlit fields, flowering trees, and neighborhood streets. He attended art school at the University of Baylor, where he refined his technical skills and studied the works of the French and American impressionists who most inspired him.

After graduating in 2022, Howard moved to Austin, Texas, hoping to immerse himself in the vibrant art community there. Dedicating hours to painting en plein air around the city. The hustle and bustle of Austin provided endless new scenes to interpret through his unique lens. Howard’s landscape paintings from this area, with their lively brushwork and shifting light effects, are some of his most acclaimed works.

In just a few short years, Howard has had paintings accepted in galleries nationwide and internationally. His studio is located in Austin, where he continues to experiment with new compositions and techniques. Though he works in the impressionist tradition, Howard brings a fresh energy and individual style all his own.

Howard cites Monet's late water lily paintings as among his biggest artistic inspirations - works that show nature's sublime beauty and the power of color and light. Like those masters before him, Howard seems destined to leave his own mark on the impressionist legacy with his deeply felt, luminous scenes of the modern world around us. His star continues to rise - watch for more exciting work to come from this talented new painter.
